Millions of Brilliant Little Micro Sponges

imgCoir, also known as 'coir fibre pith", is a natural and renewable resource that is free of any chemicals and toxins. It is produced in the extraction of the long fibres from coconut husks that are used in the making of mattresses and automotive seating.

Uniform in texture, coir is a completely homogenous material composed of millions of capillary micro-sponges that absorb and retain both moisture and odor. It is widely used throughout the horticultural, industrial absorbent and bio filter industries.

Kitty's Crumble is an innovative pet litter made from uniquely processed grains of coir. It is unlike any other previous coir product.

Pictured is coir at 350X magnification. It is estimated that the surface area of coir material to be approximately 0.6ha (6000 square meters) in a single litre of coir. The large surface area is created by the hollow channel structure. This is how it can absorb and retain up to 4 times its own weight in liquids.

Natural Earthlike Material

Kitty's Crumble has a unique color that is indicative of its uniquely processed grains of coir (coconut husk). Coconut is a natural, renewable resource that does not require fertilizers or pesticides. It needs only rainfall to grow. Kritter’s Crumble involves no cutting down trees, no mining the earth and no agricultural crop production.
